Frequently Asked Questions
Who are portrait sessions for?
Everyone! Solo portraits for individuals, family portraits, multi-generational sessions with grandparents/parents/children, and sister sessions for biological sisters or chosen family. If you want to celebrate yourself or the people you love, this is for you.
"I've never done a professional photoshoot". Will I feel awkward?
Not with me! I guide you through every single pose, expression, and moment. You'll never wonder what to do with your hands or where to look. Most clients are nervous at first and laughing by the end.
What should we wear?
Our professional stylist will guide you! For families and groups, we'll coordinate colors and styles that complement each other without being too matchy. For individuals, we'll plan outfits that make YOU feel amazing.
Do you photograph children?
Yes! Family sessions include children of all ages. I'm experienced at working with kids and keeping sessions fun and age-appropriate. We also ensure that children don't have to spend too much of their time on the photoshoot, I understand they would rather be playing than listening to some lady telling them 'knock-knock' jokes to make them smile.
Can we include our dog?
Absolutely! Pets are family. Just let us know during planning so we can prepare accordingly.
How long does a session take?
Individual sessions: 1-2 hours
Family/Multi-gen/Sister sessions: 2-3 hours depending on group size This includes time for hair/makeup, outfit changes, and various setups.
When will we see our photos?
Two weeks after your session, we'll meet for your private reveal where you'll see all your professionally edited images and choose your favorites.
Can we do photos outside the studio?
Yes! We can shoot at outdoor locations, your home, or a meaningful spot. Travel fees may apply for locations outside our studio area.
What if someone in our family doesn't want to be photographed?
I hear this all the time! I'm gentle, patient, and good at making skeptics comfortable. By the end, they're usually the ones who want "just one more."
How far in advance should we book?
I recommend booking 4-8 weeks in advance, especially for weekends and family sessions that require coordination.
What's included in the session fee?
The $700 session fee secures your date and includes the consultation, planning, photoshoot time, and professional makeup for one person.
Where are you located?
Our studio is in Needham, MA, and we serve the greater Boston area including Wellesley, Newton, Brookline, Natick, Framingham, Watertown, Sherborn, Dover, Southborough and surrounding communities.

This is me, the face behind Studio S.
I am Shruthi (shrew-thee), mid-40s, and loving life.
I am loving getting older, and learning to be kind to myself not just others.
I have ADHD and anxiety, but you will never know that when you meet me. I am an introvert but you would never know when you meet me because I have Chandler Bing’s personality - I will make you laugh before you find out am actually an introvert.
The love of my life is my pupper, Sonny, and the 'S' in Studio S is for him. There is nothing in the world I wouldn’t do for him.
I am a plus size curvy girl and I own it! My business is, like me, body positive, age positive, women positive. I love being an older woman and am already in my “grumpy give no F’s” era.
I believe in creating experiences for women that celebrate who we are right now. No special occasion needed.
